Following his visit to Libya, the Rt. Hon. the Prime Minister will proceed to the Democratic Republic of Congo to attend the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) scheduled to take place in Kinshasa, on 7-8 September, 2009.

The Summit of Heads of State and Government will be preceded by the meetings of the Standing Committee of Senior Officials on 2-4 September and the meeting of the Council of Ministers on 5-6 September.

The Summit will receive an update on the status of the implementation of the SADC Free Trade Area (FTA) officially launched in Sandton during its last sitting in 2008. The outgoing Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, His Majesty King Mswati III will also present his report at the same occasion.

The Prime Minister’s delegation will be comprised of the First Lady, Mrs. ‘Mathato Mosisili, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, the Hon. Mohlabi Tsekoa, The Minister of Finance and Development Planning, the Hon. Dr. Timothy Thahane, the Senior Private Secretary to the Right Hon. the Prime Minister, Mrs. N. Seithleko, the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr. J. T. Metsing, the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Mr. M. Khethisa, the High Commissioner of Lesotho to the Republic of South Africa, H.E. Mrs. L. Ntoane and other senior government officials.
