At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Singapore His Excellency Mr Sellapan Ramanathan, His Majesty King Letsie III will be on a state visit to the Republic of Singapore from 24-30 January, 2010.

The visit is aimed at strengthening relations between the Kingdom of Lesotho and Singapore and to explore possible areas of cooperation between the two countries. Relations between the two countries have been warm and cordial throughout the years, although trade remained minimal.

Singapore has over the years, consistently demonstrated her unwavering support to Lesotho’s developmental efforts in various sectors, mainly in the areas of manpower capacity building. Lesotho nationals have benefitted in specific areas such as civil aviation, information technology, public administration, environmental management and trade promotion.

His Majesty’s delegations will be made up of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, the Hon. Mohlabi Tsekoa; the Minister of the Public Service the Hon. Semano Sekatle; the Principal Chief of Bela-Bela Chief Lesaoana Peete; Senior Private Secretary to the Palace Mr Mabotse Lerotholi; Deputy Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr Thabang Lekhela; Lesotho Ambassador to China and Singapore H.E. Major General (Rtd) Rachobokoane Thibeli.

His Majesty will also undertake a private visit to Hong-Kong from 28 – 30 January, 2010.
